Hanging in there

Thanks a lot, everyone, for your well wishes. It means a lot to us. I couldn’t even fill Brad in on the vet visit when he got home – I had to have him read the blog entry. There was a chance we’d get the lab results from the aspiration (the needle biopsy) last night, but it didn’t happen. My understanding is that the sample is so small that we’ll either get a definitive cancer diagnosis, or have to do a full biopsy. So, we find out Monday. I woke up about every two hours to see if Lani was okay (not on purpose, it’s just what apparently happens with me). I feel like crap today, and am continuing to keep distracted with knitting, with the occasional dabbling in either work or homework.

Update: the vet called, and the aspiration does not show cancer. So, it’s not definitely NOT cancer, but it’s not definitely cancer, so that’s a win. So the plan is we rerun the liver enzyme tests (more blood) on Tuesday to see if they’ve gotten better since completing the antibiotics. If they’re higher, we’re going to go ahead and do the surgical biopsy. If they’re lower or about the same, we might still do the surgical biopsy, but not until the following week when this new vet returns from vacation.

In the meantime, Leilani spent the evening hanging out with us:

knitting

I stayed like that as long as she was on me, to the point where my bad left knee was screaming. Totally worth it, though. She resettled here:

This picture is from a few weeks ago, but look at this face:

She’s completely recovered from yesterday – she’s eating as well as she ever does, and has regained her energy/mobility.
