I finished up my double knit hat last night. It looks horrible on the inside, but I can only hope that a good blocking will help. I just need to figure out what to block it on – I might put it on my head, take it off still wet and immediately stuff it with hand towels. I don’t think I have a bowl or anything of the right size, and I absolutely cannot wear the white side out without some blocking magic. It didn’t help that I did about five decrease rows before I realized that I was doing p2tog on the white layer rather than ssp like I was supposed to – laddering down to fix those didn’t help the need for blocking at all. I’m very pleased with the hat overall, though (it’s definitely warm and soft!), but I’m glad I’m done knitting it.
