Snowflake hat progress

I went with the majority and picked the bottom motif, the one that’s more spaced out. The nice part about double knitting instead of fair isle is that I don’t have to worry about the length of any floats. Of course, I’m knitting two hats, basically, but the whole reversible thing is cool too. I got up to almost the middle of the motif at KnitSmiths yesterday, but keeping track of a chart on two sides of fabric plus talking didn’t work out so well for me, so I stopped.

The picture is way yellow, but it is DARK when I get up. And 31 degrees this morning. At least the new apartment seems to be really well insulated – the temperature is around 70 degrees inside with no heat. Right now. I’m sure that won’t be true in February. Heck, it won’t be true in November.

After I gave up on the hat, I pulled out Gatsby Girl. No progress photo yet, but I’m almost done with the increases. Except I’m very confused – I thought I did seven decreases (I was supposed to do eight, but counted wrong) but when I got to my sixth increase, I realized I had the right stitch count to do two more sets of increases. So both Alison and Ariel double checked me, and, well, disagreed on how many decreases I did. Anyway, I won’t be ripping back – I just really want to know what I did so that I can match it on the front. Plus I’m the kind of person that has to know what happened. Maybe working on GG only while reading or talking wasn’t the smartest thing ever.
