LA meet-up
Miyon and I left bright and early on Sunday morning to drive up to LA to go to the meetup. We were early, which was good, as we had some trouble finding the right spot. Turns out not as much trouble as half of the group (I guess that’s open to interpretation, since I’m assuming I was at the right one because that’s where Lauren was).
Anyway, we sat and knit for a while (shocking, I know) and then went to eat lunch. Here’s the list of names I got of people that aren’t pictured later:
MJ, Allison, Alison, Shannita, Andrea, and Liz.
After a fun lunch in the Farmer’s Market (and after I dumped powdered sugar all over myself from a biegnet), we headed over to Knit Cafe. It’s a very nice shop, and it was crammed full with knitters – the other half of our group, including the rest of the San Diego contingent. Knit Cafe is a beautiful store, with very nice yarn and people. The only drawback is the lack of any kind of needle but straights, which I found confusing since they sold sock yarn. How do you knit socks with no circs or DPNs? Speaking of sock yarn, I loved two different colors of Lorna’s Laces, Denim (a solid) and Sand Ridge (I think – Jessica, can you verify the name?). Unfortunately, there was only a single skein of each. Actually, maybe that was a good thing, since I left empty handed, and we all know I don’t need any yarn.
ETA: I stand correctd – Knit Cafe has DPNs if you ask for them, just not enough display space for them (premium LA square footage).

From left to right around the table:
Kathy, Nancy, Jessica, Lauren, Wendy, Heidi, Miyon, and Lori. I think those are Hilari’s hands on the right.
Here, I only know three people (sorry):

In the front on the left is Julia, on the right in the front is Marnie, and Jen is standing up in the green sweater. I know I met the woman that Jen is talking to (I want to say Jillian?) but I don’t remember the blog name, sorry.
ETA: Jillian’s blog can be found here – thanks Jen! I also met Wendy at the shop, but don’t have her in a picture.
Whew, I hope that’s everyone! Totally worth the hours in the car, even the traffic on the way back! It was much better having a car buddy this time (last March I drove up alone) – thanks Miyon!
Sidenote – as of last night, my semester is done!!! Three more days of work until my “lie around the house” vacation.

I found out from Julia that they do have dps, but they are kept in the back. Only so much space to display things, but they have them if you ask.
Nice to meet you and talk for a little bit. Also loved getting a closer look at your sweater, which was gorgeous!
That’s great, my bloglines subs just past the 100+ mark.
It was nice to meet you yesterday and I meant to comment that your new sweater looks fabulous. I’m not sure about you, but I was certainly shy about meeting some of the bloggers that I stalk (Julia & Marnie) since they’ve become something of celebrities to me. Anyway, I’m glad you and many others from SD could make it up. And thanks for the listing of all of the people who came!
That’s Jillian standing next to me in the picture BTW. Her blog is http://www.sknitty.com.
Yep, Sand Ridge. I opened up the hank last night and I’m hopeful it will stripe instead of pool. I need to get my pictures up today, I’ve been slacking.
It was such a great meetup! Next time maybe it’ll be somewhere in the middle so you guys won’t have to drive so far. It was good to see you again, Kris!
Oooh! my hands are famous!!! It was great meeting you and your sock is fabulous!
